Pirmin Schlicke

Pirmin Schlicke is a mathematician specializing in mathematical oncology who left a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston to join the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg's Department of Biosciences and Medical Biology as an APART-USA fellow, a programme of the Austrian Academy of Sciences created specifically for postdoctoral researchers leaving American institutions amid the uncertainty affecting US science funding.

Schlicke earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics from the Technical University of Munich in 2015, with a concurrent exchange year at the Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, followed by a master's in mathematics in bioscience (2017) and a doctorate in mathematics (Dr. rer. nat., 2022), both also from TU Munich. From April 2024 to December 2025, he was a postdoctoral fellow at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

His research develops computational models of tumor growth, applying mathematical and computational methods to primary and metastatic tumors in order to better understand cancer progression and inform treatment strategies.
