Yuhang Song

Song Yuhang is a young AI researcher and former leader in Britain's AI chip field who returned to China, joining Nanjing University's School of Artificial Intelligence as an associate professor in early 2026.

Song earned his PhD from the University of Oxford in 2022 and is a recipient of the JP Morgan AI Research Award, with widely cited AI research publications. In 2021, he co-founded the chip start-up Fractile with fellow Oxford PhD candidate Walter Goodwin, aiming to manufacture AI chips faster than Nvidia's to meet growing demand for computing power. Song left Fractile in May 2024 after questions were raised by a British digital media outlet about his academic background and earlier ties to China.
