Florian Schüder

Florian Schüder is a German biophysicist who left Yale University to join EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) in Switzerland as a tenure-track assistant professor in the Institute of Bioengineering, starting January 2026.

Schüder earned his BS in physics from Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich in 2013 and completed a joint master's in physics between LMU Munich and Harvard University in 2015. He completed his PhD in biophysics at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in 2020, then held a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University from 2021 to 2023, followed by a position as Associate Research Scientist at Yale from 2024 to 2025 and a visiting researcher stint at ETH Zürich. He received the 2024 Emmy Noether starting grant from Germany's DFG and a 2025 NCCR Microbiomes Advanced Science Centre Fellowship.
