Chenglong You

You Chenglong is a quantum physicist specializing in quantum sensing and precision measurement who left Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge to take up a full-time professorship at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in Chengdu in January 2026, after more than a decade in the United States.

You earned his BSc from Qingdao University in 2014 and his PhD in Physics from LSU in 2019, remaining there as a postdoctoral researcher in the Quantum Photonics Lab until his departure. Regarded as a fast-rising figure in his field, he has joined UESTC's Quantum Physics and Engineering Laboratory, established in 2023 to support national efforts to develop high-density, high-precision quantum photonic devices and advance quantum measurement technology.

UESTC has been on the US government's export-control Entity List since 2012 due to its research into defence-related technologies such as radar systems and electronic warfare, reflecting the strategic sensitivity of the quantum sensing field You now works in.
