Summary
Zhang Xiangyu is an energy engineer specializing in the intelligent control of new power systems who left a tenured researcher position at the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Colorado to join Southeast University in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, in 2024.
Zhang joined NREL as a postdoctoral research fellow in 2019 before becoming a tenured researcher there from 2021 until his departure in April 2024. At Southeast University, he holds a position as doctoral supervisor and associate researcher at the School of Electrical Engineering, continuing research central to China's clean energy and grid modernization ambitions.
NREL is one of the world's foremost institutes for renewable energy and energy efficiency research, areas of strategic importance as China accelerates its technology and science drive to strengthen its domestic economy and energy security.
