Weiqiang Chen

Chen Weiqiang is an award-winning biomedical engineering professor and pioneer of "cancer-on-a-chip" technology who left New York University to join Nanjing University's School of Biomedical Engineering in China, confirmed in June 2026.

Chen's research develops microfluidic and organ-on-a-chip platforms that model cancer progression and metastasis outside the human body, allowing researchers to study tumor biology and test therapies with greater precision than traditional cell culture methods. His work has been widely recognized within the biomedical engineering community for advancing lab-grown models of disease.
